Unfinished Businesses

In my little quest of becoming less of a perfectionist, I have to constantly tell myself that it is ok if things do not work out as planned. Not everything on the to-do-list has to be done. Focus on the accomplishements and celebrate them thus celebrating life.

It’s ok, let it go. Smell the roses…

Tea & Dreams

Of course I have forgotten all about it by now…

Last night during the storm, I slept quite restlessly and had a long tiring dream. I think it has to do with the 2 cups of tea I had in the afternoon and the fact that there are lots of stuff going on in my life. I am constantly in problem solving mode. So when I dreamt, it was a long winding problem solving soap opera style dream. I woke up thinking that there shall be a continuation.

The human mind is a strange thing.

Towel Day

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

To Believe

It is better to believe than to disbelieve. In so doing you bring everything to the realm of possibility. ~ Albert Einstein

Perfectionist?

How to Tell If You Are a Perfectionist in 10 Ways:

  1. A perfectionist is highly conscious and hyper-critical of any signs of mistakes. He/she has an extremely sharp eye towards details
  2. A perfectionist targets to be the best in everything he or she does, even if it is something that he or she is not interested in.
  3. A perfectionist often spends a lot of time to perfect something.
  4. A perfectionist sets absolute ideals on things in life.
  5. A perfectionist is the harshest critic of himself/herself.
  6. A perfectionist mulls over outcomes if they did not turn out as envisioned
  7. A perfectionist is not receptive when it comes to criticism and feels adverse towards failure because it suggests something he/she did was not perfect.
  8. A perfectionist only has the end goal in mind. If he/she does not achieve the goal, it really does not matter what happens in the process.
  9. A perfectionist has an all-or-nothing approach.
  10. A perfectionist is very sensitive about any situation which might give others the perception he/she is not perfect.

I think I’m still about 80% perfectionist. :-P

Imagination

Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination. ~ Oscar Wilde

One can agree or disagree with the above quote. For me, it is a good reminder not to take things too seriously, especially in the current financial situation.

Hotdogs, Burgers & Tacos

I do not care for American junk food and do not miss the I want it and I want it now lifestyle that I left behind a year ago. But dang it I do like Mexican food. Glad to see that the Asians are time efficient and healthy. Way to go my people!

This is what I am babbling about (Americans – We Eat Poorly Quickly):

One Stone Two Birds

Yi Se Er Niau is an old Chinese saying. It is similar to the English idiom ‘to kill two birds with one stone’.  It means resolving two issues with one solution or action.

And I’ve just done that. Mind you, no birds or stones involved here! What I did was to add an extra page on my blog for my Dutch lesson notes. I have utilized one of my design tools to create a chart of present and past tenses I learned in class. This way, I’ve designed and did my revision the same time! This is just the first step in my objective of digitalizing my Dutch (Nederlands) lesson notes. Soon, I’ll be able to access my class work online and do my revisions that way.

Pretty smart huh? ;-)

One Chance

It is no secret that D and I enjoy dining out. With so many reputable restaurants in Belgium, it will probably be a while before we can build an impressive “I’ve eaten there” list. This particular indulgence will probably cost us a hefty sum. Ah but then, you only get to live once!

Being the nicer person, D sometimes suggest that we revisit a certain not-so-good restaurant and give them a second try. Hmmm… I have to disagree. I have limited time and money, I kinda like to reserve these for my visits to Michelin starred restaurants.

Thus, restaurants have only one chance to win me over. I’m a modern day consumer – please me and you will win yourself a long term customer or at least a good referrer. Treat me like a second class citizen and it will be the last you see of me.

And that’s that. :)
