Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need.  ~ From the movie Fight Club, based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk.

I can’t say it better… :-)

Appreciation

Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well. ~ Voltaire

Don’t get me wrong, I count my blessings. But I sincerely wish that I can be more appreciative of people and things around me. I hope to be intelligent enough to not blur the lines between appreciation and convenient contentment.

Vice versa, I also wish that I am more appreciated for who I am and what I do. That I am not just mere convenience for being here at the moment. I do not wish to be an invisible soul, or a fleeting sense of contentment…

Progressive Soul

It’s important to be heroic, ambitious, productive, efficient, creative, and progressive, but these qualities don’t necessarily nurture the soul. The soul has different concerns, of equal value: downtime for reflection, conversation, and reverie; beauty that is captivating and pleasuring; relatedness to the environs and to people; and any animal’s rhythm of rest and activity. ~ Thomas Moore

Mediocrity

Mediocrity is climbing molehills without sweating. ~ Icelandic Proverb

I refuse to live a life of comfortable mediocrity. I refuse to believe this is it for me. I refuse to just exist!

Getting Your House In Order

Getting your house in order and reducing the confusion gives you more control over your life. Personal organization some how releases or frees you to operate more effectively. ~ Larry King

Sounds logic no? And believe me when I say that I know the satisfaction of getting things in order. The feeling of accomplishment when stuff are tidied and cleaned. Nevertheless, I also have to admit that endless, boring, you-have-to-do-it-or-no-one-else-will kind of house works makes me cranky. :-P

Sanity Defined

The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane. ~ Nikola Tesla

Value Of Our World

The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased, and not impaired in value.
~ Theodore Roosevelt

Summer Sun

Great is the sun, and wide he goes,
Through empty heaven with repose,
And in the blue and glowing days,
More thick than rain he showers his rays.

Though closer still the blinds we pull,
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two,
To slip his golden fingers through.

The dusty attic spider-clad,
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad,
And through the broken edge of tiles,
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.

Meantime his golden face around,
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look,
Among the ivy’s inmost nook.

Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.

~ Robert Louis StevensonSummer Sun

My Time, My Life

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. ~ Steve Jobs

Oh what the heck, not my favourite person in the world to quote but I kinda owe someone this gesture. You see, I own 3 major Apple products that I never paid a single cent for. Besides, what Jobs said makes sense.

With that in mind and with half my summer holidays gone, and another half to enjoy… let’s get going then! :-)

New Ending

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. ~ Maria Robinson
